About this incentive
Launched in March 2017, the Drive Clean Rebate is a point-of-sale (at the dealership) rebate of up to $2,000 towards the purchase or lease of a new electric or plug-in hybrid car. The rebate is available to all NY state residents, businesses, and government entities. To receive this rebate, simply purchase a qualifying electric car from a participating dealership , the rebate will be applied during payment. A 36-month lease term or ownership requirement exists for this rebate. Currently, there are more than 60 car models that qualify for the Drive Clean Rebate (view the list of eligible car models here ). New models are added when they become available for sale within the state. Rebates are based on the battery-only range of the car. Current Drive Clean Rebates for electric cars purchased after June 30, 2021 by battery-only range, are listed below. Greater than 200 miles: $2,000 40 to 199 miles: $1,000 Less than 40 miles: $500 Electric cars with MSRP > $42,000: $500
