About this incentive
The District of Columbia offers tax credits for purchasing electric vehicle supply equipment and converting a traditional vehicle to run on electricity. These tax credits exist for individuals and for corporations. The credit for installing electric vehicle charging equipment is 50% of the cost, capped at $1,000 when installed at a private residence and $10,000 for chargers installed at an electric vehicle charging station. There is also a tax credit of 50% of the equipment and labor costs directly attributable to the cost to convert a motor vehicle licensed in the District that operates on petroleum diesel or petroleum derived gasoline to a motor vehicle that operates on an alternative fuel, including, electricity, not to exceed $19,000 per vehicle.
